The staff at WHA have been working hard to make a difference in the community during the pandemic – and their families are even getting involved too!
WHiA caseworker Nicola Isaac’s daughter, Grace, aged six, has become a YouTube sensation and even raised money for Age UK to tackle loneliness experienced by the elderly.
Paul, a neighbour of Nicola and Grace, is the conductor and musical director of Wingates Brass Band in Oldham. He asked if Grace would like to be part of a music video to raise awareness of loneliness and isolation in older people during lockdown, as well as to raise funds for Age UK.
Grace jumped at the chance.
The feel-good video was based on an elderly gentleman who lived alone, and how he and Grace built up a friendship during lockdown.
Mum Nicola said: “The whole video was shot over the duration of a weekend in December with covid restrictions adhered to. It was to be set in the height of summer so Grace had to dress accordingly. Despite the cold, Grace was a real pro and didn’t complain once.
“The video became a real family affair as myself and my husband and Grace’s little sister, Rose, were also asked to take part. It was great fun and we are very proud that she was able to do this for an important charity.”
Since the video was released it has had more than 30k views on Facebook alone! Not only that, Grace has received a citizenship award from her school for this brilliant achievement.
