The second annual Warrington Running Festival attracted runners from across the country.
Athletes strode out in 5k, 10k or half marathon races which passed through the town’s iconic Golden Gates.
David Cummins, Warrington Housing Association’s CEO, and Gerry Kiddle, Director of Social Value, ran the half marathon while Housing Officers Roisin Cain and Kimberley Flynn put their best feet forward in the 5k.
Gerry said: “This was a great opportunity for me to join colleagues and members of my local running club to enjoy a local event, running on the familiar local streets going past where I live and work and the weather was perfect to top it all off!”
The event was a team-building opportunity for Roisin, who has only recently joined WHA
She said: “It is nice to be part of the WHA team and running in an event in the community where I work is lovely.”
Kimberley added: “It’s going to motivate me to carry on running, next time it will be the half!”
David said: “It was great to be part of this iconic running festival, I’m hoping to encourage even more colleagues to take part in 2023.”
RunThrough Events promise next year’s festival on Sunday, September 24, 2023, will be the world’s first free, road-closed chip-timed race. Ballot entry is open with a race capacity of 6,000 runners.
