Annie Crean joined Warrington Housing Association in January 2023 as our new executive support officer. We sat down with Annie to get to know her better and find out what makes her excited to come to work.
What is your role at WHA:
I started as an executive support officer at the beginning of the year, supporting the executive management team of David, Kirsty and Fiona.
What has been your career path:
I have always been in tech businesses and so the move into housing has been interesting.
My career started with an apprenticeship and I completed a level 3 in business followed by an HR qualification, CIPD in people practice.
What attracted you to your new role?
Working directly with people and seeing the change you can make for them. I didn’t realise how interesting all the sectors of housing are – as an outsider, you don’t think about these things. I am learning so much. Everyone needs a home!
I’m Warrington born and bred, it really helps the job, having local knowledge.
What makes you excited to come to work?
To learn more about the industry and progress in my role. Seeing the building work on site progress has really sparked an interest in the development side of the sector.
But also spending the day with my WHA family! After working remotely for two years in a previous role I got very isolated. Everyone here is lovely, and I felt part of the team straight away.
What does a usual day look like to you?
I arrive at work; check my emails and deal with anything urgent then it’s BREW time! Throughout the day I will attend meetings and write up any actions and minutes. We hotdesk in the office so it is great to sit next to and learn from different people all the time. Every day is never the same and that’s why I love WHA.
What do you like to do in your free time?
During the week, I like to go to the gym and walk the dog. At weekends, I love to go for a huge walk with a pub lunch.
How would you describe yourself in three words?
Kind, generous and optimistic
What’s your favourite work lunch?
Sweet potato jacket, tuna and salad… yummy!
Top day out in the North West?
Drinks in Manchester, especially when it’s a lovely warm, sunny day.
What do you love about Warrington?
Everything! I love my hometown.
