Good personal hygiene is one of the best ways you can protect yourself and others.
As a minimum, you should wash your hands after:

Using the bathroom.

Sneezing, blowing your nose or coughing.

Touching a cut or open sore.
-
Playing with pets.
-
Using public transport.
-
Smoking.
-
AND BEFORE eating.
And to wash your hands effectively, you should:

Soak hands in running water.

Apply soap and scrub hands for at least 20 seconds, including between fingers and under nails.

Rinse hands under running water
-
Use a paper towel or tissue to turn off the tap.

Dry hands using an air dryer or clean towel.
-
Use hand sanitiser when you are unable to access washing facilities.
