The threat of Coronavirus (COVID-19) is impacting lives worldwide.
One vulnerable group that cannot be ignored, is the elderly in the community and it’s important to ensure everyone has a strong support system – neighbours helping neighbours!
Consider what you can do, obviously taking care of yourselves is number one, but the other thing you can do is reach out to the seniors you know and see what extra help they might need right now. The impact of COVID-19 could mean that their care worker is under the weather and can’t provide help. It could mean that their adult children who would normally help them, aren’t feeling well and can’t help them either. If they really shouldn’t be in crowded situations, maybe you could go do their grocery shopping for them – you could even do it online!
Why not also exchange phone numbers with your neighbours (if you don’t already have them) and keep in contact with each other via phone or text. Sometimes a quick chat with someone can make all the difference to someone living on their own.
As a community, let’s show how much we care!
