Cheshire Life has snapped up a snapshot by a member of WHA’s over 50s centre for its prestigious 2023 calendar.
LifeTime member Tanya Wightman, who lives in Latchford, was inspired to take up photography when she retired from her job in local government.
Her colleagues at Warrington Town Hall presented her with a camera as a leaving gift and, looking around for ways to get the most out of it, Tanya joined the camera club at WHA’s over 50s social hub LifeTime five years ago.
She said: “I have submitted pictures for the calendar for a couple of years, but this is the first time I have had one selected. I was over the moon when the editor sent me the email.”
Her image of a narrowboat on the Bridgewater Canal captured with her Nikon D750 earlier in the year is featured on the October page of next year’s Cheshire Life magazine’s calendar.
She said: “I was walking back to the car after a day out at Walton Gardens when I just grabbed my camera and took the shot. You never know how good one is – but you just hope it is until you get back and get it up on your laptop.
“It is fantastic to be recognised as being good enough to be chosen. I have seen it in the shops and have my own copy already, I am definitely not writing any dates on it!”
The LifeTime camera club meets every Thursday 1-3pm at the Gateway and takes field trips every third week of the month.
Tanya added: “People come with compact cameras or even camera phones. There is always someone on hand to help or give good advice.”
To join Lifetime, complete the online form, drop into the Gateway, 101 Sankey Street, Warrington, Cheshire WA1 1SR or call 01925 246824.
The calendar is available with December’s issue of Cheshire Life.
