One day the world stopped working.
One day the world stopped working,
In the way we know it should,
Coz we found a virus lurking,
In the darkness there it stood.
It took away our privilege,
The right to go outside,
It stopped us visiting family and friends,
Inside we must stay and hide.
It took away our education,
It took away our knowledge,
It took away our freedom,
Forced to stop going to college.
Families became so distant,
Yet life still carries on,
Text and calls were the only communication,
The only contact until it’s gone.
Children could not go to school,
Reasons they did not understand,
That one day they were learning numbers,
And now we’re all housebound.
The virus continued month and month,
And then it took its toll,
Some people stopped their suffering,
The angels took their souls.
The suffering will surely end,
I don’t know what time and when,
Key workers are supporting you,
All the nurses and even the bin men.
For those still powering through,
Please don’t give up the fight,
I can see the end of the tunnel,
There I see the light.
One day the world stopped working,
But we’ll put it back the way it should,
Coz we beat the virus that was lurking,
In the grave there it now stood.
