We have no doubt that there are many artistic, creative and talented people who live in our properties, so it came as no surprise when we learnt that one of our tenants at Lyon Court, Diana Delooze was a lover of writing poetry and had in fact written one about her time there.
Diana came to live at Lyon Court in December 2020 after her husband sadly died as she wanted to live somewhere smaller that felt like she was part of a community.
Diana said: “As soon as I started to look round I thought to myself how homely it felt, and knew that I wanted to live there.
“I have always enjoyed writing poems and verses for birthday and Christmas cards but I hadn’t written one for a while. It was only after moving into Lyon Court that I felt like returning to my old hobby, and I got back into the bug of writing again.
“I enjoyed writing the poem as it’s just how I feel living here at Lyon Court. I feel so safe and happy.”
We feel privileged to have you. Diana.
Poem by Diana Delooze from Lyon Court
‘I came here in January to Lyon Court
Leaving a house that I’d previously bought
I chose a flat which was on the first floor
But every flat has its own front door
I’ve got a kitchen and a shower room,
a lounge, diner and a roomy bedroom
Also a room for my scooter to be,
with shelves for things like my Christmas tree
Overlooking gardens all shades of green,
you can always tell when the gardeners have been!
Everyone is friendly and now can meet up,
for tea or coffee – some bring their own cup
Twice a week you can play bingo once more,
the winning cards are checked for sure!
The laundry room is quite a hike,
but keeps me fit without a bike
Janet’s in the office running the place,
and Louise is cleaning with a smile on her face
I’m glad I moved as I feel happy here
Hoping this is my home for many a year!’
